Yan Aung is the founder and lead instructor of Success Prep Education Center. Originally from Myanmar (Burma), Yan was awarded a full scholarship to attend Wabash College in Indiana, where he studied Mathematics, Physics, and Philosophy. His strong academic foundation and passion for education led him to a lifelong commitment to teaching and student success.
In 2016, Yan established Success Prep Education Center with a clear mission: to provide high-quality, results-driven academic support and college preparation to students both locally and nationwide. What began as a small tutoring service has grown into a trusted education center with three branches in Elmhurst (Queens), Bensonhurst (Brooklyn), and Monterey Park (Los Angeles), along with a wide-reaching online program via Zoom.
Yan brings nearly two decades of experience in teaching Mathematics, Physics, Earth Science, Writing, SAT preparation, and college application essays. His engaging and effective teaching style is rooted in deep subject expertise, strategic thinking, and a strong belief in every student’s potential.
As a licensed college consultant through the Heartland Institute of Financial Education (HIFE), Yan has guided many high school students through the complex college admissions process. His students have gained admission to top-tier universities including Dartmouth College, Columbia University, New York University, Swarthmore College, Syracuse University, Lehigh University, UCLA, Vassar College, Drexel University, Union College, Boston University, Bates College, Rochester Institute of Technology and many Macaulay Honors Scholars, and more — often with full-ride scholarships and generous financial aid packages. To date, Yan has helped students earn over $5 million in scholarships and financial assistance.
